SAAVAN’S STORY

Our son Saavan was born in February 1999 and was the happiest, most content baby you could imagine.

He had a fascination with cooking which he learnt by watching his mother Jay, and their bond together was nothing short of magical. Like all children he was curious, mischievous and very loving. Above all else, Saavan was kind and considerate and had a great sense of adventure – which ultimately grew as he did – culminating in his first trip to India in 2016, where he sought to help under privileged children through a charity he became very involved with alongside myself and Jay.

Giving back has always been part of our family principles and Saavan quickly learned the importance of this way of thinking and behaving.

He was a natural with children, loving and gentle and they gravitated towards his magnetic warmth wherever he went – looking up to his 6ft 2inch frame, long arms which were perfect for enveloping hugs and kind face which radiated joy – helped with a thick mop of long pushed back black hair, that every child laughed at and wanted to play with.

Tragically, Saavan’s wonderful live was cut short in 2017. As a family we couldn’t cope without our North Star.

It was only through the constant love and support of our family and friends that we are able to exist today. Two years after losing Saavan, Jay and I discussed the notion of honouring our son and continuing his amazing work and Saavan’s Trust was born. A charity to reflect all that Saavan stood for – kindness, love and adventure. Our world is less bright without our son, however through Saavan’s Trust we hope to shine brightly for those who need it most.
